Lintons lead Flying Scot Midwinters

Published on March 16th, 2015

Sarasota, FL (March 16, 2015) – The opening day at the Flying Scot Midwinters at Sarasota Sailing Squadron was a fantastically beautiful with temperatures in the 80s. After postponing the start for a couple hours due to lack of wind, the seabreeze came in and the crack race committee ran three great, four-leg races in steady 10-12 mph winds. The fleet was well behaved, with only one general recall to its credit, very little yelling on the course, and zero protests.

With 32 boats in the Championship Division, the top 5 are (1) Jeff and Amy Linton (Tampa); (2) Zeke and Jay Horowitz (Sarasota); (3) Ned Johnson and Ryan Donahue (all the way from Maine); (4) Larry Taggart and Carrie Berger (New Orleans); and (5) Ryan Malmgren and Chris Smith (Madison, Wisc.).

With 22 boats in Challenger, the current leaders are (1) Norris Elswick and Chuck Tanner (Sarasota); (2) Jim Leggette and Mike Funk (Mississippi); and (3) Randy Rubinstein and Jim Cavanagh (Sarasota).

Eight races are scheduled through March 18.
