Live Coverage: Volvo Ocean Race in Auckland

The 2014-15 Volvo Ocean Race began in Alicante, Spain on Oct. 11 with the final finish on June 27 in Gothenburg, Sweden. Racing the new one design Volvo Ocean 65, seven teams will be scoring points in 9 offshore legs to determine the overall Volvo Ocean Race winner.

Additionally, the teams will compete in 10 In-Port races at each stopover for a separate competition – the Volvo Ocean Race In-Port Series.

The fifth leg begins March 18 in Auckland, NZL, with the 6,776 nm route to Itajaí, Brazil taking approximately three weeks.

The action kicks off at 0900 local time on Wednesday (Mar. 18), but in many time zones the start is on Tuesday, March 17: 1600 in New York, 2000 UTC and 2100 in mainland Europe.

The race start will be streaming live – coverage begins 15 minutes before the start gun, at 0845 local time, 1945 UTC.
