No changes at the top of the top of Laser US Nationals

Brant Beach, NJ (July 23, 2015) – The leaders at the Laser US Nationals maintained their position on the third day of racing, with only one more day remaining to shuffle the standings. Robert Davis (CAN) posted a 2-5-1 to lead the Full Rig (55 boats), Scott Rasmussen (USA) now has a 33 point margin after a 2-1-1 in the Radial (127 boats), and Blaire McCarthy (USA) won all three races to lead by 7 points in the 4.7 (3 boats).

The Laser Class U.S. National Championship on July 21-24 is also being used for the U.S. Singlehanded Sailing Championships. Twelve races are planned for the Laser Full Rig and Laser Radial fleets on Little Egg Harbor Bay.

Awards for US Sailing’s U.S. Singlehanded Championships will be awarded to competitors meeting the eligibility rules for:

• George D. O’Day Trophy to the overall highest placing eligible male in Laser Full Rig.
• Helen Willis Hanley Trophy to the overall highest placing eligible female in Laser Radial.
• US Sailing medals will be awarded to the top three positions in each fleet.
