Leaders continue to lead at Laser Radial Youth World Championship

Kingston, ON (August 17, 2015) – The Laser Radial Youth World Championship had great conditions on day three, with 11 knots of wind from the South West and blue skies. All flights completed race 5 and race 6 as scheduled, with the male division still split into three flights for qualifying series.

Australia’s Conor Nicholas holds his lead in the male division for the third day in a row. Nicholas placed 2,2, today, securing a 6 point lead from 2nd place Paolo Giargia of Italy who finished 2,4, today. Gianmarco Planchestainer, Italy, moves up to 3rd, placing 4,1, and is tied in points with Umberto José Varbaro, Italy. Varbaro lost the tie breaker and sits in 4th. Only 2 net points behind the tie break is Canadian Matti Muru in 5th who placed 1,3, in today’s races.

In the female division, Hungarian Mária Érdi continues to lead the fleet. Érdi sits with a strong lead of 12 points off 2nd, placing 1,1, today. Dolores Moreira, Uruguay remains in 2nd, placing 10,2, today. Magdalena Kwasna, Poland, placed 3,5, today, moving up to 3rd. Francesca Bergamo, Italy, sits in 4th, with Gabriella Kidd, Brazil, in 5th.

Racing continues daily until August 20th.
