California Sweeps High School Singlehanded Nationals

The top 36 singlehanded high school sailors from around the country competed in the Cressy High School Singlehanded Championship, held in Laser Full Rigs and Laser Radials on October 31 through November 1 in Norfolk, VA. Light winds on Saturday allowed for four races, with better conditions on Sunday completing nine races.

Two fleets of 18 Laser Standard Full Rigs and Laser Radials, with each sailor having earned a spot by qualifying at championship regattas in their respective districts.

After 13 races, Paul Didham from Point Loma High School (San Diego, CA) won the Laser Full Rig division and Joseph Hou from Newport Harbor High School (Newport Beach, CA) won the Laser Radial division.
