Iceboat Swap Meets this Weekend

Published on November 4th, 2015

Interested in some fast sailing? Wings, foils, and multihulls are impressive to be sure but for maximum speed and knots-per-dollar it’s hard to beat an iceboat!

With temps dropping and soft water boats being put away it’s time to start thinking about how to feed the sailing habit all winter…. Frostbiting dinghies is great but if you like to go fast (and live up north) it’s time to get yourself into an iceboat.

The DN is the most common type out there but there are numerous other classes and one-off craft to choose from. The one common denominator is speed; Even the most rickety, low-tech boat will get moving fast enough to make you whoop and holler! Cruising any type is cool, racing them is even better….

If you are interested in getting involved in the hard-water world hit the internet and find a local club or better yet check out any of the swap meets coming up this weekend:
