America’s Cup: It’s Good to be King
Published on November 26th, 2015
The idea of cost control in the America’s Cup seems like a good idea, which the Defender intently campaigned for but now competes against. It’s good to be King.
Here Oracle Team USA announces the arrival in Bermuda of their third test 45-foot boat, which is three more boats than most of the challengers. The Protocol has limited the size of test boats for the last two Cups to 45-feet, which was a bit of limit for the 2013 event when the racing was held in 72-foot boats. But now that 2017 will be held in 15-meter boats (49.2-feet), it isn’t much of a limit.
The defender will be giving one of the test boats to challenger SoftBank Team Japan as part of their cooperation agreement.
