VIDEO: World Sailing returns to Malaysia

The season finale for the 2015 World Match Racing Tour season kicks off at the Monsoon Cup Malaysia beginning on the 26th January 2016. Beyond the season title, the tour is sanctioned by World Sailing to award the Match Racing World Championship title.

Based on the final results after the penultimate event in Bermuda, Bjorn Hansen, Taylor Canfield and Ian Williams will have the best shot at winning both titles and a share of the Tour Bonus which stands at USD440,000. The three skippers are separated by just 5 points.

This event follows the political incident at the 2015 Youth Sailing World Championships (Dec 29-Jan 3) in Langkawi, Malaysia when two sailors from the Israel Yachting Association were unable to compete due to the conditions imposed by the Malaysian authorities in order for them to be allowed permission to enter the country and compete at the regatta.
