Arrivals for first leg of Bermuda One-Two

(June 6, 2017) – Tristan Mouligne, sailing the Class40 Toothface 2, is the first boat to finish the first leg in the Bermuda One-Two race, completing the singlehanded leg today at 09:39:13 EDT.

The Bermuda One-Two race is a singlehanded race from Newport, RI to St. George’s, Bermuda, followed by a doublehanded race from Bermuda to Newport, RI.

Thirty-four boats started the first leg on June 2 in nice South West breeze under sunshine. Two boats retired after thunderstorms passed over the fleet: Murray Danfort’s hBeneteau Figaro II Flying Turtle (electrical systems failure) and Robert Green’s Alden 46 Scallywag II (both autopilots failure).

The return start for the doublehanded leg is on June 15.

The race runs every other year and has been running since 1977. The race is organized by the Newport Yacht Club (Newport, RI) and St. George’s Dinghy and Sports Club (Bermuda).
