VIDEO: Jaw-Dropping, Boat-Breaking

Published on June 7th, 2017

Every sport has that moment which gets people on their feet. Baseball has the crushing home run. Basketball has the posterizing slam dunk. For Football, crossing the end zone does it every time.

What is it for the modern America’s Cup? In conditions that pushed up against the 24 knot wind limit, Emirates Team New Zealand got us on our feet when they pitchpoled on June 6 in Bermuda.

This video highlights this extreme day during the America’s Cup Challenger Playoffs which extend from June 4 to 12 (may end earlier). In this series, the top four Challengers are split into two Semi-Finals (best of 9) with the winner of each match to meet in the Final (best of 9) to determine who will take on Defender in the America’s Cup Match.
