Conte holds big lead at Lightning Worlds

Salinas, Ecuador (November 24, 2017) – The third day of the 2017 Lightning World Championship has its third leader as Argentina’s Javier Conte with crew Julio Alsogaray and Paula Salerno dominated today by winning all three races.

Ched Proctor, along with his son Charlie and longtime teammate Meredith Killion, entered the day with the lead but could not contain Team Conte’s blazing speed, finishing second to them in the first race.

Nick Sertl and his team of Dylan Farrell and John Mastrandrea would be the ones to follow Team Conte in the second race, though Sertl was given the win as the preliminary results had Conte as OCS, a fact later overturned.

After this race, throw-outs came into effect, and the leaderboard shuffled with Conte’s first race OCS now discarded.

Conte once again mashed down the gas pedal and won the third race of the day, followed by five-time ILCA World Champ Tito Gonzalez, who is sailing with his son Alberto and Christian Herman.

The final two races of the series are scheduled for tomorrow.

The Lightning World Championship are scheduled for November 22-25.
