470 and 420 North American Champs

The 2018 470 and 420 North American Championship was held January 13 to 15 with lighter winds opening the event and moderate to breezy conditions for the final two days in Miami, FL.

As a preview before the World Cup Series Miami (Jan. 23-28), Luke Patience/ Chris Grube (GBR) topped the 33-boat Men’s 470 fleet, with fourth place finishers Stuart McNay/ Graham Biehl (USA) earning the North American title. Afrodite Zegers/ Anneloes Van Veen (NED) won the 30-boat Women’s 470 fleet, with Atlantic Brugman/ Nora Brugman (USA) in 17th as North American champions.

Thomas Rice/ Trevor Bornarth (USA) claimed the I-420 title over 41 teams, with third place finisher Carmen Cowles/ Emma Cowles (USA) as the top women’s team.
