Preliminary Findings for Comar Comet 45S Keel Failure

The Marine Accident Investigation Branch (MAIB) has submitted preliminary findings in its investigation into the 2017 keel failure and capsize of Tyger of London, a Comar Comet 45S designed by Vallicelli & C and built in 2007 by Comar Yachts. The technical assessment by MAIB of the keel’s stainless steel top plate revealed the keel had not been manufactured in accordance with the designer’s drawing or intent. Full report.
