Clagett Boat Grant Program
Published on August 21st, 2018
Applications are being accepted for the Clagett Boat Grant Program which will make two 2.4mR boats available in 2018. Applicants can be from either individual sailors or community sailing programs in North America. Applications close on September 30 2018.
“The Clagett Boat Grant Program began in 2016 and the first recipient of a Sonar was the Y-Knot Sailing program in Lake George,” recalled Clagett President and Co-Founder, Judy Clagett McLennan. “In 2017, the program purchased two 2.4mR boats which were granted to two sailors in Canada, Shaylagh Ley and Delani Hulme-Lawrence. These two sailors come from two well supported community sailing programs which will be able to provide support to these sailors as they work towards their individual sailing goals.”
Both Shaylagh and Delani participated in the 2018 Clagett Clinic and Regatta and raced in the Clagett and US Para Sailing Championships held in Newport, R.I. at the end of June.
“I thought sailing in Newport at Clagett for the first time was really fun…I made a lot of good friends and learned a lot,” commented Shaylagh. “The boat has helped me learn more sailing skills and learn a new boat in general.”
