Fickle weather continues at 470 Junior Worlds

Bracciano, Italy (August 22, 2018) – The second day of the 2018 International 470 Junior World Championship brought SSW light breeze of 7 to 8 knots that built by late afternoon, allowing the men and women’s fleets to complete two races before a storm had the Race Committee hoist AP over A flag to bring everyone ashore to safety.
In the women’s 470 (28 boats in one fleet), the leading team is the German duo Theres Dahnke/ Birte Winkel with 3 points net, followed by two Israeli boats Yahel Wallach/ Omer Bilia at the second and Linoy Korn/ Shahar Tibi at the third place both with 6 points. Madeleine Rice/ Laura Slovensky (USA) posted a 9-21 to slip to 6th overall.
In Men’s division (51 boats divided into qualifying fleets), the second day of qualification series find Hippolyte Machetti/ Sidoine Dantès (FRA) on top position with two bullets in both fleets and 6 points, followed by the German team of Daniel Göttlich/ Linus Klasen and Enric Noguera/ Fernando Dávila Ponce De León from Spain, both on an equal 4 points. Wiley Rogers/ Jack Parkin (USA) dropped to 9th overall after scores of 16-7 today.
Races continue tomorrow at 14:00 with the intention of the Race Committee to complete 3 races for Women’s fleet and 2 races for Men’s fleets.
Racing for the 79 teams representing 22 countries is planned for August 21 to 26.
