Pierre Dufour

Pierre Dufour passed away peacefully at the age of 75 years on Sunday, October 21, 2018. Pierre practiced Law in Gatineau, Quebec for 51 years and was an active member of the community throughout his life.

As an active sailor for over 30 years and Commodore of the Club de Voile Grande-Rivière, President of the Quebec Sailing Federation, and Sail Canada judge, Pierre had a significant influence within the sailing community.

He was a member and Vice-president of the board of directors of the Canadian Museum of Civilisation Corporation (now History) from 1995 to 2008, and was especially proud of having participated in the construction and inauguration of the War Museum.

Pierre was a cancer survivor and spent the second half of his life with mobility challenges and a weakened heart. His family is proud to have been able to donate his heart to research on the effects of chemotherapy on the heart.

Beloved husband of Valerie Forbes for 51 years and father to Nicolas (Christine) and Julie (Jide), he was also a loving grandfather to Leo, Eric, Josephine and Nneka. Predeceased by his parents Ernest and Cecile (Lefort) Dufour, he is also survived by his sisters Louise (Jocelyne) and Marie-France as well as his aunt, Hélène Lefort and cousins André, Pierre and Susanne Lefort.

Memorial donations can be made to the Foundations of your choice in the fields of cancer and heart research. A service will be held at 11a.m. on Wednesday, November 7, at l’Église St. Joseph, 245 boul. St. Joseph, Gatineau (Hull) and condolences will be received from 10:30 a.m. Messages online can be sent to www.cfo.coop.
