NOR for 2020 Youth Match Racing Worlds posted

Auckland, New Zealand will host the 2020 edition of the Youth Match Racing World Championship and the Notice of Race is now available online.

Hosted by Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron (RNZYS), sailors will race on Waitemata Harbour in Auckland from Feb 26 – March 1, 2020.

Up to 16 skippers will be invited by World Sailing. World Sailing’s Member National Authorities (MNAs) may apply for an invitation for a skipper of their nationality by sending a completed Request for Invitation Form to matchracing@sailing.org no later than November 1, 2019.

Yachting New Zealand, as host, will be issued an invitation to a skipper of their choice.

Each sailor racing at the Championship will be under 23-years-old on December 31, 2020.

The 2020 edition of the Youth Match Racing Worlds will be sailed in Elliott 7’s by a crew of four or five providing the weight does not exceed 350kg. The boats are modern, fast and reliable and are purpose designed and built for training and for match racing.

Skippers will be seeded into a round robin or divided into groups based on World Sailing’s Match Racing Rankings and the event will consist of a round robin, Semi Finals, Petit Final and Final.
