Sail Canada has named Lisa Ross as their new Canadian Sailing Development Squad (CSDS) and Talent ID coach. In partnership with the Canadian Sport Centre Atlantic, the position will be based out of Halifax in Nova Scotia and will focus on developing, monitoring, and implementing programs for members of the CSDS and the Sail Canada Talent ID program across Canada.
“We’re looking forward to having Lisa be a part of our team,” said Mike Milner, High Performance Director. “Her extensive sailing knowledge and experience will be a great asset to our programs and will be able to help shape sailors into high-performance athletes.”
With over 20 years of experience coaching at different levels, from club programs to the Olympic Games, Ross will bring a wealth of knowledge to the athletes in the Development and Youth Squad. She will concentrate on developing effective and innovative programs with the ultimate goal of producing elite level athletes.
Ross has competed at two Pan American Games, two Olympics in both single and triple handed and a number of World Cup events. “I understand the developmental leap our athletes face when moving from national regattas to international competition.”
In creating the CSDS, Sail Canada has committed to creating a culture of excellence in our emerging athletes. “I am excited to add my experience to this initiative and work with the High Performance staff at Sail Canada and the next generation of national team and Olympic athletes to return Canada to the podium!”
