Memories from Newport Bermuda Race

Published on May 31st, 2020

While the 52nd edition of the Newport Bermuda Race was cancelled in 2020, there remain 51 editions of memories that have come from this 635nm course. And Scuttlebutt wants to relive some of the highlights.

In what began as an act of rebellion against the Establishment, amateur sailors have been proving the naysayers wrong since 1906, finishing off St. David’s Head and enjoying the hospitality of Royal Bermuda Yacht Club.

As the start for the biennial race this year was to be on June 19, Scuttlebutt would like to share some of the great tales from the past. We have a 2020 Newport Bermuda Race official Patagonia pullover (large) for our favorite story and some Scuttlebutt hats for the runner-ups.

Please submit your memorable moment from the past to editor@sailingscuttlebutt.com

UPDATE: The prize chest is expanding with race gear … share your story!
