US Match Racing Champs holding on
Published on June 10th, 2020
While US Sailing 2020 National Championships have been cancelled through the summer, the US Match Racing Championship remains hopeful that it can remain on the schedule for September 25-27 in Rochester, NY.
However, as the qualifier series and the US Women’s Match Racing Championship were cancelled for 2020, nine entry slots will be filled by resume, plus last year’s Champion.

“In match racing, we have a saying, ‘do not make any format decisions before you have to’,” said Bill Simon, USMRC Chairman. “We wait as long as we can for weather and other information before deciding what comes next. With that in mind, the current plan is to issue invitations by the end of June with a two-week window for receiving acceptances, up to 5 PM Eastern on July 15.
“At that time, a final go / no go decision will be made on the event based on who has accepted and paid the entry bond, travel and other COVID-19 considerations. We’ll refund entry bonds if the event is cancelled. We hope that anyone interested in sailing in the National Championship requests their invitation.”
