Midpoint of 2020 Annual Conference

Due to COVID-19, World Sailing’s Annual Conference is being held electronically in 2020 from October 15 to November 1 and will include 11 Committee, 11 Sub-committee, and three Commission meetings. World Sailing’s Council, the main decision-making body of the world governing body, will meet across four sessions on October 30 and 31.

The General Assembly will be held on November 1 and will include the announcement of the ballot results for the election of President and Vice-Presidents.

Here’s the update thus far from the 2020 schedule:


October 22: Along with a closed Coaches Commission, the fifth day of World Sailing’s 2020 Annual Conference featured an online session of the Youth Events Sub-Committee – the second gathering of the group. Discussions regarding numerous submissions were held over the two meetings, and the submissions were officially voted on during this second session. Full report.

October 23: The sixth day of World Sailing’s 2020 Annual Conference had closed sessions for the Medical Commission and the first of three meetings for the World Sailing Board of Directors whose term extends from November 2016 until November 2020.

October 24: The first full seven days of meetings at World Sailing’s 2020 Annual Conference concluded with the Race Management Sub-committee and the International Regulations Commission. Full report.
