Qualifying begins at Thistle US Nationals

Cleveland, OH (August 2, 2021) – The 75th Thistle US National Championship got underway today for 96 teams for the qualifying stage of the event.

The fleet was split into four divisions, completing two of the three races that will divide the teams into Championship and Presidents divisions. Racing started in 7-10 knots of oscillating breeze with plenty of chop with the wind decreasing during the day.

With each of the four divisions to race each other once during the qualifying stage, the day one race winners were Ed Adams, Mike Ingham, Greg Griffin, and Brian Joyce.

The series scores for boats in the Championship Division will be the total of all their race scores, including the qualifying races, with no races excluded. The series scores for boats in the President’s Division will be the total of their race scores, excluding the qualifying races, with no other races excluded.
