2021-22 J/70 Winter Series #2

Fifty-seven J/70 teams competed in the second of the three event 2021-22 J/70 Winter Series on January 8-9 in Tampa, FL. The Dark Energy team led by Laura Grondin with crew Taylor Canfield, Scott Ewing, and Rich Peale won the sixth and final race to secure first place with 14 net points.

Brian Keane’s Savasana kept consistent scores to earn second place with 19 net points, just one ahead of John Heaton’s Empeiria in third. Teams had warm temperatures, sunny skies, and winds between 10-15 knots.

Topping the 22-boat Corinthian division was Bob Willis’ Rip Rullah, Peter Bowe’s Tea Dance Snake, and Steve Lowery’s uno mas. Cate Muller-Terhune’s Murder Hornet won the title in the seven-boat One-Pro division, followed by Dave Kerr/Lee Sackett on USA1516 and Peter Barrett’s Reset.

The 2021-22 Series culminates with the 2022 Midwinter Championship on February 4-6.
