VIDEO: Final approach in Pacific Cup 2022

Published on July 19th, 2022

Hamachi, co-owned by Jason Andrews and Shawn Dougherty, won their class and were third overall in the 2022 Pacific Cup from San Francisco, California to Kaneohe, Hawaii.

With 300 nm of the 2070 nm course remaining, Hamachi headed directly into the remnants of Hurricane Darby with sustained winds of 20 knots gusting to 26 knots for the last 12 hours in heavy seas. The reward was boat speed averaging 18-20 knots with a couple forays to 25 knots.

This unedited GoPro video provides a sense of the speeds and conditions with Hawaii on the horizon.
