Go time for US Youth Match Racing Championship

Published on June 20th, 2023

The 2023 U.S. Youth Match Racing Championship for the Rose Cup (USYMRC) will be hosted by Sail Sheboygan and the Sheboygan Yacht Club on June 21-25 in Sheboygan, WI. The USYMRC is an invitational event open to sailors who have reached their 16th birthday but not their 21st birthday during the calendar year in which the event is held.

The ten teams represent seven different states, with the field including Justin and Mitchell Callahan who are both coming off a win at the College Team Race National Championship where they were part of Harvard’s winning team. Callahan was a competitor in the finals of the 2022 Rose Cup.

Dave Perry, a five-time U.S. Match Racing Champion, will lead an Advanced Match Racing Clinic prior to racing on June 21 and 22, and will be assisted by match racing and youth sailing coach Ryan Davidson.

Teams of four, which must be comprised of at least one female and one male, will compete in Sonars. A single round robin qualifying stage will advance the top eight for the knockout rounds.
