Alinghi AC75 now in Barcelona

Published on March 5th, 2024

The first AC75 to compete for the 37th America’s Cup is in Barcelona as BoatOne, made in Switzerland for Alinghi Red Bull Racing, arrived to their base on March 4, 2024.

During the one-week trip from Ecublens, the racing yacht traveled at night by truck as part of a special “convoy.” Wrapped in a special cover that protected the hull and masked her shapes, the delivery truck transferred the yacht in Barcelona to a barge for the final transit to the base.

“Now that the boat is in Barcelona, we’re fully ready for the last phase of assembly before finally going on the water!” shared said Tim Hacket, shore manager.

BoatOne now begins the final build phase of rigging and hardware fitting, which includes the foil arms built for all teams by Persico Marine. This is a one-design part which is identical for all the competing yachts, and similar to the role Persico Marine had for the 36th edition in 2021.

April 5 is the earliest BoatOne can be launched.

Following the publication of the AC37 Protocol and AC75 Class Rule on November 17, 2021, the AC75 Class Rule and AC Technical Regulations were finalized on March 17, 2022. The entry period opened December 1, 2021 and runs until July 31, 2022, but late entries for the 37th America’s Cup may be accepted until May 31, 2023. The Defender was to announce the Match Venue on September 17, 2021 but postponed the venue reveal, confirming it would be Barcelona on March 30, 2022. The 37th America’s Cup begins October 12, 2024.
