Splash bash at Paris palooza

Published on March 11th, 2024

The Sailing venue at the Paris 2024 Olympics may be 400+ miles to the south in Marseille, but there will still be plenty of boating in the capital of France as 180 boats float down the River Seine for the Paris 2024 Opening Ceremony on July 26.

Shunning the typical stadium for the event, up to 326,000 people will witness the spectacle as 206 countries parade through the heart of Paris.

Extraordinary security measures will accompany the 3.7-mile route from Austerlitz to Trocadero, opposite the Eiffel Tower, as 45,000 internal security forces will be deployed across the Paris region, with nearly half the boats being used for security and technical support.
