Paris 2024: Sailing to carry Danish flag

Published on July 11th, 2024

While the Sailing events at the Paris 2024 Olympics aren’t likely to find their way to mainstream news in the USA, the situation is different in Denmark where Anne-Marie Rindom, gold medalist in the Women’s One Person Dinghy at Tokyo 2020, has been selected as the Danish female flagbearer at the Paris 2024 Opening Ceremony.

“Carrying the flag at the Opening Ceremony is going to be one of the biggest things I’ve ever done in sport,” Rindom told Olympics.com. “I’m really looking forward to that experience, it’s going to be a very unique Opening Ceremony in Paris. Not many people get to experience the Olympic Games, but then carrying the flag too, it’s just a great honor.

“It means everything to me, it is a dream that I didn’t even know that I had. It’s a recognition of who you are, not just your sporting achievements but also that you are a role model and have good values as a Danish sportsperson and had an impact on Danish sport. I’m really happy that they chose me.” – Full report
