Speed Council ratifies new solo records

The World Sailing Speed Record Council confirmed the establishment of a new Singlehanded 60-foot and Singlehanded Monohull 24 hour records. Sébastien Simon (FRA) on his IMOCA Groupe Dubreuil completed the distance of 614.91 nm on November 26-27 at an average speed of 25.62 knots. Simon improved on the Singlehanded 60-foot record of 610.45 nm set in 2006 by Yvan Bourgnon (SUI) on a trimaran and the Singlehanded Monohull 24 hour record by Thomas Ruyant (FRA) of 539.58nm (avg. 22.48kt).
