Alvin and Andrea are on their way

Hurricane season isn’t for a few months, but the National Hurricane Center has released the names of all storms expected for 2025, marking the return of a familiar list last used in 2019.

Male and female storm names are rotated every six years from pre-determined lists created by the World Meteorological Organization (WMO). Names are assigned to storms in alphabetical order, so expect to see Alvin and Andrea in the in the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans, respectively

The Eastern Pacific hurricane season starts on May 15 while the Atlantic hurricane season starts on June 1, with both lasting until November 30. For the 2025 name list, click here.
