New and improved Caribbean racing plan
Published on August 6th, 2025
The Caribbean Sailing Association (CSA) has released a revised five-year calendar for the Caribbean based International Regattas from 2026 to 2030. The event schedule aims to bring together competitive yachts, one-design fleets, race charters and bareboat charters, cruisers and ralliers in the winter months for warm winds and water.
The revised calendar has the BVI Spring Regatta moving two weeks earlier to take place from March 23rd to March 29th, while Antigua Sailing Week has announced a new separate event, Antigua Racing Cup, scheduled for April 9th to 12th. These adjustments allow competitive boats to complete their Caribbean campaigns by mid-April, ensuring they can return in time for their scheduled summer regattas.
Additionally, Antigua Sailing Week is returning to its roots in a new four-day format. Sailing point to point around Antigua, there will be cruising classes and rally options. It joins the Caribbean Multihull Challenge & Rally offering a distinctive cruisers focused event format.
“We are very proud of being able to provide a full and coordinated calendar of our racing events in the Caribbean,” reports CSA President Bastien Pouthier. “It is quite a challenge to line up all events within a reasonable time frame that will work for most competitors. Only the Caribbean provides such an effort at an international level.”
Another change is how the BVI Spring Regatta, St. Maarten Heineken Regatta, Grenada Sailing Week, St. Thomas International Regatta, and the new Antigua Racing Cup will offer dual scoring with CSA and IRC. Each regatta determines which classes IRC will be offered in.
Race & bareboats charter options are available along with a growing fleet of one-design options across many islands, especially in St. Thomas where IC24s are the big fleet and St. Maarten (Heineken Regatta & the CMC) with their Diam 24s and Sunfast 20s. Other islands are also developing their fleets such as the Dragons and RS Eliites in Antigua.
