Annapolis calls itself “America’s Sailing Capital” while Newport is often considered the “Sailing Capital of the World”, but The British Virgin Islands has taken it a step further.

The BVI trademarked “The British Virgin Islands – Sailing Capital of the World,” “British Virgin Islands – The Undisputed Sailing Capital of the Caribbean,” and “The British Virgin Islands – Sailing Capital of the Caribbean”.

The trademarks last a decade, backdated to May 7, 2024, Tourism Director Clive McCoy said in a written statement issued through the Caribbean Tourism Organization. – Full report
