End of print era for Sailing World

Published on March 2nd, 2026

Launched as One-Design Yachtsman in 1962, generations of sailors waited for the monthly arrival of the magazine. Over time, the name morphed to Sailing World, but remained the prominent source for the North American racing sailor.

But time has not been kind to print publications. Sailing World reduced its distribution to +/- 4 editions a year, and was acquired by Firecrown in 2023, joining SAIL magazine and diverse publications that covered aviation, marine, railroad and modeling, and space.

If you are still that person who waits at the mailbox for the magazine’s arrival, you will need to made an adjustment. The Winter 2025/26 issue was the final print publication of Sailing World, and Firecrown is shifting all print subscribers to SAIL magazine. If this is not what you signed up for, you have some work to do.

Sailing World will continue in digital form.
