Alec Cutler’s Hedgehog (BER) successfully defended its 2025 title at the 2026 J/70 Corinthian World Championship, held May 26-30 in Marseille, France. Eighty-eight teams representing 20 nations competed in the 7-race series, with Hedgehog finishing with a 10-point margin.
Cutler and his crew of Charles Pucciariello, Keith Davids, and Brad Rodi—former United States Naval Academy sailors who have competed together for decades—began with a 27th-place result in the opening race but then posted all keepers of 2, 1, 2, 11, 4 and 3.
“It’s very special to be able to sail with your friends, said Cutler, figuring they are the oldest boat by average age. “It’s the way Corinthian sailing should be. We very much enjoy our time together, and the sailing is a bonus.”
Light winds prevailed for much of the event, with one race held on four of the five days.
