2019 World Titles in North America

Hosting a World Championship is an immense task, yet reflects the viability of the venue and the popularity of the Class. For sailors, when a Worlds comes to their shores, the cost and complexity to participate are greatly reduced, providing an enhanced opportunity to compete and excel.

The World Championship season for North America begins in June at the Corinthian Yacht Club which will host 13 teams from USA, Canada, Norway, and Sweden for the IOD World Championship, and at Corpus Christi Yacht Club which will host the 2019 Etchells World Championship, featuring over 35 teams from the USA, Canada, Great Britain, Australia, the Netherlands, Hong Kong, and Bermuda.

Here’s the line-up for 2019 World titles coming to the continent:

June 15-21 – IOD World Championship – Marblehead, MA
June 25-29 – Etchells World Championship – Corpus Christi, TX
July 8-13 – 12 Metre World Championship – Newport, RI
July 8-15 – Optimist World Championship – Antigua
July 24-31 – Laser Radial Youth World Championship – Kingston, ON
August 16-23 – Laser 4.7 Youth World Championship – Kingston, ON
August 20-24 – J/111 World Championship – Chicago, IL
August 22-24 – Viper 640 World Championship – Long Beach, CA
August 25-30 – Fireball World Championship – Pointe-Claire, QC
September 1-8 – Blind Fleet Racing World Championship – Kingston, ON
September 19-22 – Sonar World Championship – Rochester, NY
October 3-6 – Farr 40 World Championship – Long Beach, CA
October 22-26 – J/24 World Championship – Miami, FL
November 2-16 – Hobie 16 World Championships – Captiva Island, FL
