Finalists named for DAME design awards

From 115 products entered in this year’s DAME Design Award competition, Soundings reports that 52 were nominated to go forward for final judging by the DAME jury. DAME 2013 received entries from around the world. The successful nominations came from 12 nations. Winners will be announced at 8 a.m. Nov. 19 at a breakfast briefing

NOAA announces end of traditional paper nautical charts

NOAA’s Office of Coast Survey, which creates and maintains the nation’s suite of over a thousand nautical charts of U.S. coastal waters, today announced major changes ahead for mariners and others who use nautical charts. Starting April 13, 2014, the federal government will no longer print traditional lithographic (paper) nautical charts. Coast Survey will continue

Light winds launch Hobie North Americans

(October 21, 2013) – The Hobie 16 & Hobie 18 North Americans began on Monday in Galveston, TX. After a long weather delay, one race was completed in very light winds with large waves.
