Can you see through the pain?

The Performance Penguin is going to explain how improved fitness translates to improved vision:

Do you struggle to see the boats on the other side of the course, or spot that distant gust blowing in? It could be that your peripheral vision is being affected by how hard you are working. According to a study by Soichi Ando from Fukuoku University published in the April edition of Exercise and Sport Sciences Review, peripheral visual perception is detrimentally effected by strenuous exercise. They found that those working at 75% of their maximum capacity experienced these effects. The good news is that fitter individuals were effected less – evidence of another way that improving your fitness will improve your sailing.
