55 doublehanded teams begin Mini Fastnet

Published on June 24th, 2013

(June 24, 2013) – After the Sunday start was delayed due to extreme winds, 55 doublehanded Mini 6.50 teams today began the 700nm Mini Fastnet. With a 15-knot north-westerly in Douarnenez Bay and 17 knots out at sea, the competitors soon pulled away from the Breton coast, helped by the currents. Ten hours into the race, the front-runners were already out in the Channel, with the Italian-French duo Pedote/Bourguès (Prysmian) having taken the lead in the Prototype fleet, while ‘the pair from Finistère’ Cloarec/Mahé (Lomig) is leading the Production boats. – Full report
