New World Record

(July 17, 2013) – The World Sailing Speed Record Council ratified the new Singlehanded Monohull 60 foot Transatlantic Record. From June 27 to July 6, Marc Guillemot (FRA) onboard the Open 60 Safran completed the 2880m route in an elapsed time of 8 days 5 hours 20 minutes and 20 seconds (avg speed of 14.62 kts). The previous record of 8d 21h 8m 31s was set by Alex Thomson (GBR) on the Open 60 Hugo Boss in July 2012.
