(January 23, 2014; Day 6) French skipper Thomas Coville and the maxi-trimaran Sodebo has slowed as he crosses the equator, but has narrowed the deficit to 57 miles (as of 23:30 TU) behind the solo around the world record set of Francis Joyon (FRA). It was a goal of the team to reach the equator in 7 days, but it will be the challenges of the South Atlantic that may define the success of this campaign. Team website.
