Volunteer for the 2015 Pan Am Games

The 2015 Pan Am Games scheduled for July 10-26 in Toronto is recruiting volunteers for a variety of roles to support the sailing events.

Pan Am Games, Shore Operations, Sailing is looking for volunteers for the following roles:

Supervisor, Field of Play Equipment
The Supervisor, Field of Play Equipment will organize and manage all race course equipment for the Pan Am Games, Sailing Event. This role will assist in developing equipment lists and the creation of a purchasing and contracting strategy to support the needs of the three race committees both before and throughout the duration of the Games. This role will supervise a crew of 1-2 volunteers who will manage the storage, issue and return of equipment for each day it is in use. The crew will also be responsible for the ongoing maintenance of the equipment to ensure that it is in full working order. This individual should have significant race management, be highly organized and be thoroughly familiar with the equipment used in on water race management. A background in purchasing, procurement and/or logistics is also an asset. The time commitment for this role includes pre games planning work including training as well as the requirement to work the duration of the games.

Supervisor, Field of Play Communications
The Supervisor, Field of Play Communications will develop and manage the on water and on land VHF radio communications for the Pan Am Games Sailing Event. This role includes the selection and oversight of the purchasing of suitable radios and ancillary equipment and providing input into communication infrastructure and design. This role will setup and manage the equipment and provide operations training as required. This role will supervise a crew of 2-4 volunteers who will oversee all radio communications during the event. Previous race management, racing and communications management experience would be beneficial. The time commitment for this role includes pre games planning work including training as well as the requirement to work the duration of the games.

Supervisor, Volunteer Scheduling
The Supervisor, Volunteer Scheduling will develop and manage the overall schedule for volunteers for the duration of the Pan Am Games, Sailing Event. This role will work with other Pan Am Sailing Supervisors to determine the overall event schedule, develop the daily volunteer requirement schedule and communicate shift details to the volunteer team. This role will utilize an already developed scheduling system and manage a crew of 1–2 volunteers. Previous scheduling or human resources related experience is an asset. This position would be ideal for an experienced sailor with excellent organizational skills. The time commitment for this role includes pre games planning work including training as well as the requirement to work the duration of the games.

Safety Team Members
The safety team is looking for experienced safety team members who will provide frontline safety for the competitors on each of the race courses. This includes providing assistance to competitors in distress and righting and towing capsized boats as required. Each safety boat will have a crew of two. Both crew will be required to have First Aid Certification and a Toronto Harbour License. Previous safety boat experience and familiarity with sail boat racing would be ideal. The time commitment for this role includes a certain amount of pre games training as well as the requirement to work the duration of the games.
