Caribbean braces for storm conditions

(October 13, 2014) – As Tropical Storm Gonzalo strengthens and moves through the northern Leeward Islands, delivering tropical storm force winds on Antigua, a hurricane warning for the British Virgin Islands has been issued at 11:00am AST, where hurricane conditions are expected somewhere within the warning area within 24 hours.

Additionally, a hurricane watch is in effect for…
* ST. MAARTIN
* ST. MARTIN
* ANGUILLA
* PUERTO RICO
* VIEQUES AND CULEBRA
* U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS

A hurricane watch means that hurricane conditions are possible within the watch area…in this case in the next 24 hours.

* ST. MAARTIN
* SABA AND ST. EUSTATIUS
* BARBUDA
* ANTIGUA
