Hurricane Gonzalo takes aim at Bermuda

Published on October 16th, 2014

(October 16, 2014) – Gonzalo, currently a Category 4 hurricane (113-136 knots), is continuing its track north in the Atlantic, and is expected to be at least a Category 3 storm (96-112 knots) when it crosses over Bermuda on Friday. The impact on the island is expected to be felt for at least six hours, with extensive damage likely along with significant and lengthy power outages and major impact on travel. Gonzalo has the potential to take a similar toll to Bermuda as that of Fabian in 2003, which caused four fatalities and over $100 million (US) in damage. Additional updates.
