New Guinness World Record for sailing

Published on December 7th, 2014

Guinness World Records has confirmed that Robert Suhay (USA) has set a new benchmark record for the longest single-handed distance sailed in a dinghy (Laser) by a male. With no previous male record recorded, Suhay covered 283.5 nautical miles in Maryland, USA on July 2, 2014. Suhay will also hold the outright record, as Tania Elias Calles Wolf (MEX) had previously set the female record by sailing a Laser Radial 282.78 nm from Los Cabos Baja California Sur to Bahia de Banderas, Mexico between February 28 and 3 March in 2010.
