Rios leads in Miami at Snipe Winter Circuit

Miami, FL (March 20, 2015) – With finishes of 2-1, young Raul Rios of Puerto Rico with Andrae Guaragna of Miami took a two-point lead over Augie Diaz and Kathleen Tocke of Miami after the first two races of the Don Q Regatta sailed out of then Coconut Grove Sailing Club.

The 49th Don Q Regatta took on a distinctly international flavor for 2015 with sailors from 10 countries competing in southerly breezes approaching 10 knots.

Brazilians Filepe Linhares and Lior Lavi were in third, followed by Argentinians Luis Soubie and Diego Lipszyc, and the local team of Enrique Quintero/Tara Mariani. The US teams of Peter Commette/Jensen McTigh, Ernesto Rodriguez/ Eddie Mintzas, and Carol Cornin/ Kim Courantz were in a dead heat, one point behind Quinteros.

The Don Q Regatta (Mar 20-22) is the second stop on the Snipe Winter Circuit, which began with the Snipe Midwinters on March 15-17 in Clearwater, FL. After the Miami stop, the fleet will move across the Gulf Stream to Nassau, Bahamas where Snipe sailors will compete in two events on March 25-29.
