Don Q: Daiquiris, Pina Coladas, and Cuban food

Miami, FL (March 21, 2015) – Young Raul Rios of Puerto Rico, sailing with Miami’s Andre Guaragna added one point to their lead over Miamians Augie Diaz and Kathleen Tocke on day two of the 49th Snipe Don Q Regatta in Miami. Their day’s finishes of 3-1 gave them 7 total points to Diaz/Tocke’s 10 with one remaining race to be held on Sunday.

Ernesto Rodriguez and Eddie Mitzas hold third by one point over Peter Commette and Jensen McTighe with Argentinians and Snipe World Championship runners-up Luis Soubie and Diego Lipszyc in 5th.

After a day with southerly breezes between 7 and 11 knots that was nearly a carbon copy of the day before, sailors returned to the host Coconut Grove Sailing Club for the annual Don Q party featuring daiquiris and pina coladas and a feast of Cuban food.

The Don Q Regatta (Mar 20-22) is the second stop on the Snipe Winter Circuit, which began with the Snipe Midwinters on March 15-17 in Clearwater, FL. After the Miami stop, the fleet will move across the Gulf Stream to Nassau, Bahamas where Snipe sailors will compete in the annual Bacard Cup and the Gamblin championship on March 25-29.
