The 49th Transpac Race had staggered starts on July 3, 5, and 6 to send the 55-boat fleet on the 2225nm course from Los Angeles to Honolulu. Starting off of Point Fermin, the fleet need only to clear the first – and only – mark of the course at the West End of Catalina before seeking the finish line off of Diamond Head.
