Feast or Famine for Chicago Mackinac

Published on July 17th, 2017

Mackinac Island, MI (July 17, 2017) – The 109th Chicago Yacht Club Race to Mackinac has proved to be feast or famine for the 301 entrants on the 289.4 nm course. After a brutal shellacking with winds up to 50 knots on the night of July 15/16, decreasing wind reached an apex today with drifting conditions. As of 18:43 local time, only 72 boats had finished with 89 teams officially retired. Improved conditions are expected tonight.
