Lightning WJM North Americans 2018

Teams from the Buffalo Canoe Club claimed Women’s, Junior, and Master titles at the 2018 Lightning WJM North American Championship, held August 3-5 on Cass Lake in Orchard Lake Village, MI.

Tanner Probst and his team of Maya Weber and Jenna Probst won their fourth Junior North American title.

Katie Eagan, a new Lightning sailor with crew Jody Starck and Bergen Swanson, won half the races to earn her first NA Championship.

In the Masters class, Tom Allen with Ed Lane and Mike Osborne held off a storming Larry Macdonald to claim the regatta win.

Each fleet was able to get in two races on day one, but fickle winds failed to deliver any racing on day two. The event closed on the third day with 6-14 knots of breeze with significant and frequent oscillations.
