Patience tested at 470 Junior Worlds

Bracciano, Italy (August 24, 2018) – The fourth day of the 2018 International 470 Junior World Championship was the last day of Qualifying series for Men’s division and it was another difficult day with big wind shifts testing the patience of all parties involved.
Westerly light winds was today’s forecast. After a nearly missed storm that was fortunately routed behind the mountains around the lake, the clouds went away and wind came in late in the afternoon. Racing for the men finally started at 17:38 and the Women’s fleet started its first race of the day at 18:05. Two races were eventually completed for both men and women.
At the top of the fleets in Men’s division is the French duo Hippolyte Machetti/ Sidoine Dantès with Wiley Rogers/ Jack Parkin (USA) dropping to 13th overall. In the Women’s series Theres Dahnke/ Birte Winkel from Germany lead with all top five scores while Madeleine Rice/ Laura Slovensky (USA) also fell to 13th overall.
Racing for the 79 teams representing 22 countries is planned for August 21 to 26.
